On their second album for Soulflesh Collector Records Polish brutal death metallers Unborn Suffer make no concessions to their sound. Heavily inspired by "Killing On Adrenaline" era Dying Fetus "Desecrate/Retaliate/Obliterate" is filled with high speed death metal that is both technical and groovy in parts. This love for Dying Fetus is proved by the inclusion of a faithful ‘Kill Your Mother/Rape Your Dog’ cover. The riffing is in the vein of early Aborted and Sepsism while the groove and general songstructures are very much in vein of Dying Fetus. Vocally, this is more akin to goregrind, particularly the earliest releases of Gorerotted. Musically, although solid through out, there isn’t a whole lot going on as Unborn Suffer deliver a caustic slab of US oriented death metal. The production comes with a thick but relatively undefined guitar tone, audible bass lines and a massive sound for the drum kit. The artwork, design and lay-out are good but not exceptional in any way. With the number of good genre painters/designers around today, it is disappointing to see unspectacular artwork like this. While it’s great to hear a Polish band that doesn’t sound like genre institutions Vader, Decapitated or Lost Soul the overall lack of identity does take away from what is an otherwise solid and convincing death metal act. Not the most amazing thing to come out of the Polish underground, but leagues better than what other countries churn out.
