This CD hit me in the face on the first track, "Darkness Within." With its sick drums and speed metal sound, what wouldn't you like about it. The production is done well and the art on the front and back are a nice touch of evil. Track #4, "Evisceral Battery," has pretty good guitar solos at the end. But that leads into a drum solo, over a minute long, on the beginning of Track #5, "Forever Desensitized," that in my opinion could have been left out. The rest of the track is fine. The last track, "No Fear With A Deathwish" is very nice. The beginning sounds like a death march coming to get you, and then the vocals break, then it goes back to a maximum velocity death march. Good way to end a record, guys. All in all I would have to say that Ascendancy's "Rise Of A Dead Empire" is an embodiment of metal. [Metal Wench]
